Happy Hump Day - True or False

Happy Hump Day.

I have a little brain teaser for you today. Don't worry, nothing too hard.

Can you guess which of the following are true and which are false?

1 . Apples, not caffeine, are more efficient at waking you up in the morning.

2. Alfred Hitchcock didn't have a belly button.

3. A pack-a-day smoker will lose approximately 2 teeth every 10 years.

5. When you sneeze, all bodily functions stop, even your heart!

6. Only 7 per cent of the population are lefties.

7. Forty people are sent to the hospital for dog bites every minute.

8. Babies are born without kneecaps. They don't appear until they are 2-6 years old.

10. The toothbrush was invented in 1498.

11. The average housefly lives for one month.

12. 40,000 Americans are injured by toilets each year.

13. A coat hanger is 44 inches long when straightened.

14. The average computer user blinks 7 times a minute.

15. Your feet are bigger in the afternoon than any other time of day.

16. Most of us have eaten a spider in our sleep.

17. The REAL reason ostriches stick their head in the sand is to search for water.

18. The only two animals that can see behind themselves without turning their heads are the rabbit and the parrot.

19. John Travolta turned down the starring roles in 'An Officer and a Gentleman' and 'Tootsie.'

20. Michael Jackson owns the rights to the South Carolina State Anthem.

21. In most television commercials advertising milk, a mixture of white paint and a little thinner is used in place of the milk.

 22. Prince Charles and Prince William NEVER travel on the same airplane, just in case there is a crash.

23. The first Harley Davidson motorcycle built in 1903 used a tomato can for a carburettor.

24. Most hospitals make money by selling the umbilical cords cut from women who give birth. They are used in vein transplant surgery.

25. Humphrey Bogart was related to Princess Diana. They were 7th cousins.

26. If colouring weren't added to Coca-Cola, it would be green.

Okay, I have a great picture I planned to insert here but Blogger is being a pain tonight and won't let me upload.  (Stupid Blogger.)  So instead, we'll have to go right to the answers...

They are ALL true .....

I can't decide if I'm more freaked out at the thought of #16 or #2.  (How could Alfred not have a bellybutton?)

Groaner of the Day:  You seemed to like the short one on Monday so here's another quickie.

The fattest knight at King Arthur's round table was Sir Circumference. He acquired his size from too much pi.

No belly button? Was it surgically removed?

I'd quite like a glass of green coke.

An intriguing bunch of trivia. The world is a weird place.

A woman of uncontrollable urges, what's wrong with that? Good luck with the next stage (at this rate you'll be published by next week).

Kay - I don't know, but I may have to research that one. Too weird.

LD Masterson said...

Mary - Yeah, I was thinking of duct taping my mouth but then I figured at my age, it's probably already happened. Blech!

Mood - I wonder why Coke hasn't released a batch of green ones and made it a marketing ploy. Especially around St. Paddy's Day.

There are some neat facts there. But I think I'm going to be sick because of #16. Thanks for the laugh this morning.

All true? OMG! LOL

I thought for sure we'd spend more than 5 years waiting in line and the thought of eating a spider in my sleep...pretty sure my skin is tinged green now. ICK!

Super fun!

Haha! I remember hearing of Alfred Hitchcock's 'no button' belly before...it's strange isn't it? Must've been some sort of surgery..this was awesome L.D.!!

Now that was a surprise. Although I suspect younger generations won't spend so much time in lines (unless they're waiting for the latest iPad!).

No way on earth have I eaten a spider.

i knew they were all true. Except for #17. I'm like 90% sure that ostiches don't stick their heads in the sand at all. I could be wrong though

LD Masterson said...

Mason - You're welcome.

LD Masterson said...

Jessica - I've always said I hate spiders but I didn't think I was referring to the taste.

LD Masterson said...

Dru - I hope you're right.

LD Masterson said...

Sarah - Well, I'll admit I didn't research them all, so you may be right. Considering number 16, I hope whoever put this list together was wrong on a couple of them.

Yeah, the Hitchcock one has me puzzled as well. Knew about green Coke though. They should just leave out the coloring for St. Patrick's Day.

LD Masterson said...

Alex - Okay, curiousity got the better of me. I just wasted a half hour trying to get a definite answer on Alfred's navel. Never found anything semi-official but the story seems to be that he had abdominal surgery at some point in his life and the incision and subsequent scar removed his belly-button. I just glad it didn't damage his genius.

You're killing me with #16, as an arachnophobe. I wish I didn't know that!

LD Masterson said...

Lydia - Ah, we share that particular phobia. I almost left that one out then decide to print the list the way I found it and just believe #16 is wrong.

Robert Guthrie said...

I would have guessed that the natural color of COKE would have been clear, all chemicals... Toxic green, just as bad.

LD Masterson said...

Robert - Hi! Haven't seen you in a while. Toxic green doesn't sound very appealing, does it?

Maryannwrites said...

Okay, I am so freaked that I came here and read this list and now have to stay awake the rest of my life. No way will I risk swallowing a spider. It's either stay awake or go the duct tape route like another commenter suggested.

Reading through the list, the only one I knew for sure was true was number 20. I'd read an interview with John Travolta and learned that he had turned down those roles.

LD Masterson said...

Maryann - Do like me. Just assume if it's gonna happen, it probably already has so no worries.
