I love taking pictures.
I adore my grandkids.
So it's no surprise that I enjoy taking pictures of my grandkids.
I take plently of the posed variety, but I especially like the ones that capture a moment or tell a story.
This morning I feel like sharing a couple.
I believe I've posted this one before but it's half of a pair and I want to post the second one so you're getting them both.
Finding stones to throw into the pond.
Studying the ripples he made. Such power for a little guy.
The next one I like because of how I got it. I was in the back seat of the car taking a picture of my granddaughter (in the front seat) using the sideview mirror. In the far right side of the mirror, you can see me holding the camera.
This is just a cool action shot. (She hammered that kick.)
This is a post-game celebration piture. (He got two sacks!) What makes it special is the guy holding my grandson is my dad. How many kids get to celebrate their games with their great-grandfathers?
I took this one on Tuesday, a couple of days ago. First day of school. This is the same little guy who was hunting for rocks in the first picture. Wasn't that just a year or two ago? When did he get so big? Like the sign at the corner, I want to tell him (tell all of them), please stop.
Okay, that's all for now. I hope you enjoyed these.
I'm heading downstairs because my beloved spouse has the day off and said he was up for cleaning out the garage if I was. Can't miss opportunities like that. (I'll be a little late visiting/commenting today.)
This weekend is the start of football season so you know where I'll be. How about you? Plans for this weekend?
Quotes for Today:
The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck
Family faces are magic mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present, and future. ~Gail Lumet Buckley

The mirror shot is really cool!
That first picture is amazing. That's the kind of picture I would turn into a painting.
PS I love Erma Bombeck, the wisest woman I never knew.
Your grandchildren are adorable. :)
Love all the pics!
I like the unposed pictures, best, too. Thanks for sharing!
To see the growth in pictures like tugs at the heart. From little boy to young man. Where does the time go?
Oh, my. I truly love this post. That says it all.
Happy Weekend!
Such sweet grandkids.
I didn't know that football season was starting. I live in a family that isn't too crazy about football, so we don't really pay attention. :)
Aw, those are wonderful photos.
Great pictures! I love to take grandchildren photos. You really got some good ones!
I will spend the weekend making Hello Kitty curtains for my granddaughter's room. A labor of love!
Have a great weekend!
Thanks, Alex. I like getting quirky shots.
Maria - I'd love that picture even if it wasn't my grandson.
And you know Erma's my all time favorite.
Thanks, Linda G. I think so but I might be a hair biased.
Stacy - thank you for coming by.
Angela - I'm not sure where time goes but it moves way too fast.
Carol - Thank you. Happy weekend to you, too.
Lauren - I don't know about the rest of the sports world but the sixth grade Braves have their first game on Sunday.
Thank you, Diane. I liked yours today, too.
Karin - Send me a picture of the Hello Kitty curtains. Preferable at picture with her in it.
You and the Captain have a wonderful weekend.
I love those two quotes - and the pictures. I think family is the best way to measure time.
sweetness & really like that second quote!
family, the fabric of our lives =)
(sorry, cotton =)
Love all the pictures, but especially the last. So true, it seems like a flash and it's gone.
Sigh! Our grandchildren are so far away and we rarely get to see them. Most of the pictures we have of them are the ones my daughter emails to us. Someday we'll change that.
I had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I have very fond memories of family life and still enjoy getting together with all of them. Again, though, they are so far away. What was I thinking when I moved to California? Oh yeah, money--I was thinking about money. That worked out real well--lol.

Love the pictures. I agree with Alex, the mirror shot is really interesting. I also agree with you that sometimes it might be nice to stop time. My grandkids are all growing up so fast.
Also loved your Paul Newman story yesterday. I have a great picture of him and Robert Redford from "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
Mike - Glad you liked them. I do wish I could slow time as well as measure it.
Tara - Cute. And thanks.
Cate - That last one is both my favorite and my least favorite.
Lee - My parents were long-distance grandparent to our kids. As my grandparents were to me. I never realized how much we all had missed until we got to have our own grandkids close by. I hope someday you are able to change that.
Maryann - I like getting those quirky shots (like the mirrow one). So much more fun than the standard "say cheese".
Ah, Newman and Redford. What's not to love?
