I Love You, Dad

The world is diminished by the passing of a great man.

He taught me about honesty and integrity.
He taught me about sacrifice and taking care of others.
He taught me about laughter and embracing life even when life was hard.
But mostly, he taught me about unconditional love.

He was my dad, my hero, and I'll miss him every day of my life.

Thank you, blog friends, for your prayers and good wishes. I got to spend a lot of time with my dad these last few weeks and I was holding his hand when God called him home.

I plan to resume my regular blogging and visiting next week. Hope to see you then.

I'm so glad you were able to be with him at the end. That's the best gift you could've given him.

I hope you'll ease back into life slowly. Take care, hon.

I'm sorry, Linda but the memory of his goodness and the nature of his passing I hope is some comfort. And, my own personal faith, I believe you will see him again - and if that for you is false comfort, I'm sorry. I hesitated before saying it.

It's hard when your parents leave, but he's still watching over you. You'll feel him from time to time. Hugs :)

My sincerest condolences! I've been there. In fact, I was holding my own Pa's hand when he too was called back by God.

Your Dad even has a great face! You can just see he was a nice man because kindness absolutely radiates from his face in that photograph.

And for the record, I am also CERTAIN that you'll see him again. Not a shred of doubt about it in my mind.

In fact, keep your eyes and ears open because it's even possible he'll send you a SIGN.

Whether he does or does not send a sign, however, makes no difference regarding the certainty that the two of you will embrace again.

I agree with everything Stephen T. McCarthy said. I wasn't holding my father's hand when he died, but I wish I was. Since then he has come to me many times in dreams. I KNOW that he watches over me, and I know your dad will always be with you, too.

I am so sorry for your loss. I don't think we ever stop missing our parents.

I love that picture of him - you can see so much kindness and humor in his face! I'm so sorry for your loss, but am glad that you were able to spend his last moments together. Sending you all of my love and hugs, L.D. Thinking of you today.

My condolences to you, friend! It's never easy to say good-bye to a loved one even when you know he/she is heaven bound. At least you were fortunate to spend time with him before his departure. That's something some don't get. I wish my husband and I could have spent time with his mother before she died in June. It just came out of nowhere. Anyway, my thoughts & prayers are with you and yours. God bless!
