Happy Hump Day

Happy Hump Day.  I'm a little behind schedule this week, getting my posts up midday instead of the night before.  Hopefully, I'll be back in sync by Friday, when I'll be telling you more about the wonderful Writers' Police Academy.

I want to do something a little different today.  I'm a bit of a camera bug (taking pictures, not being in them), and I feel like sharing a few shots I especially like.  Hope you like them, too.

Mr. Dragonfly.

I like to call this one Kung Fu Diving

A bit of last winter.

This one was actually borrowed by the local Red Cross chapter for their aquatics class calendar.

My all time favorite.  He was hunting for stones to throw in the water.  Very serious work.

So how about you?  Do you like taking pictures.  Ever share any on your blog?

Groaner of the Day:  For many years a certain white whale and a tiny herring had been inseparable friends. Wherever the white whale roamed in search of food, the herring was sure to be swimming right along beside him. One fine spring day the herring turned up off the coast of Norway without his companion. Naturally all the other fish were curious, and an octopus finally asked the herring what happened to his whale friend.

How should I know?" the herring replied. "Am I my blubber's kipper?"

Oh I love the "bit of last winter" my daughter Moi takes beautiful pictures and she has one that reminds me of that! I would love to have time to grow in the art of picture taking. That one falls on the "eventual" list of things to do ;)

Great pics!
I have a photography degree, but lost some interest when digital cameras came out (or maybe it had something to do with my tri-focals and having problems focusing the stupid camera!). I've posted some of my old b&w pictures. Maybe I'll post some more, whenever I get time to go find and scan them (because I used film back in the day, ya know?).

I enjoy looking at pictures but not one for taking them. I'm that mom who has a few pics here and there of my kiddo, just enough to see the differences as she's gotten older.

I'm not as good at taking pictures as my hubs it. I let him do all the artsy pictures!

Looking for stones... a great reminder of what's important. Thanks!

Stop it! You're gilling me.

Yes I have featured some of my photos on my blog, not because they were good, but only to illustrate something.

Pidg - Thanks. My husband thinks I'm crazy when I go running around the yard after an ice or snow storm but there are so many pictures possibilities.

Stacy - I used to have a really good 35mm with all the attachments. Now I have a simple digital with a built in zoom. There are a lot of pictures I can't get anymore but I still have fun with it.

Angela - I'm the other extreme. I have stacks of albums of my kids pictures. Now I have folders full of the grandkids (hello digital).

Lydia - My hubby is more a "lop their heads off" kind of photographer. *grin*

Robert - There's a companion shot to that one of him standing, watching the ripples he created. A perfect study in seeing the world through fresh eyes.

I love pics that take me nack. I can relate to the lad searching for those oh so right stones to throw in the water. For a kid, its a science and an art.

Wow, great pics - what type of camera do you use? I love shooting random objects and experimenting with angles.

Thank you, Cate. I use a Canon PowerShot A570-IS. It's a nice balance between 'point and click' and full function. Plus it has an old fashioned viewfinder as well as a screen. Sometimes my eyes have trouble with the screen in the sunlight.

Stephen - I remember waiting forever while he made his selection. You're right, it had to the "oh so right" stone.
