Christmas Happenings at Maria Zannini's

Whoa! Where is my head these days?  On Monday, November 24, I told you about a great upcoming blogfest I found over on Lydia Kang's The World is My Oyster, but I forgot to post the logo/link on my sidebar.  It's there now.  This is a one day event, happening on December 16, so there's still plenty of time to join in.

Now for the bigger oops - I totally missed announcing the start of Maria Zannini's Christmas blog series, Do It Yourself Christmas.

Maria's lined up a great series of guests who are posting on Christmas food, crafts, and traditions.  Even better, many of the posts include special giveaways.  What more could you ask for?  It started Wednesday so you'll want to go back and catch them all.  My contribution will be posted on December 21.  It's a recipe my family has loved for generations so I hope you'll come by.  The link to this one is also on my sidebar so you won't forget.

Is everyone getting ready for Christmas?

Groaner of the Day:  An enterprising journalist decided to get the scoop of the day by photographing the fearsome phantom that lived in the spooky old mansion house at the edge of town.

When he entered the house, armed with only his camera, the ghost decended upon him, moaning and wailing and clanking chains.

"I mean no harm; I just want your photograph," the journalist said bravely.

Surprisely, the ghost liked the idea and posed for a number of shots.  The happy journalist rushed back to his darkroom and began developing the photos.

Unfortunately, they turned out to be so underexposed that the ghost couldn't be seen.

The journalist was so distraught, he went to a local pub to drown his sorrows.  Some friends happened by and asked what was wrong.  With a sigh, he told them,

"The spirit was willing, but the flash was weak."

OOOOOhhh. A recipe. I'll have to make extra sure to check it out, though it's Maria's blog so visiting is happening anyway.

As for Christmas, I've got a few gifts ordered and hope to finish during the next week.

I'm not in much of a Christmas spirit this year. Bad personal economy doesn't help and I'm too confused about my family's Christmas plans--we can't seem to get it together this year. On 12/16 I'm participating in D.L.Hammons' "Deja Vu" Blogfest. It was too easy not to pass up.

Oh that's bad!
Maybe you were distracted this week by the shiny of the holidays.

Thanks for the link! I'm off to check it out...and await your recipe. ☺ Oh, what a groaner!

The halls are decked at our house, well, the tree is trimmed. We've been baking cookies, and our elf, Randy, has been in all sorts of mischeif. Life is good as we prepare for the celebration!

Angela - See you at Maria's. And good luck getting that shopping finished. You're way ahead of me.

Lee - I hope you find your Christmas spirit. If the big joys are eluding you, search for the little ones. They hide in the strangest places.

Alex - No, I'm pretty sure I was distracted by this stupid home improvement project we're trying to get finished. Luckily, Maria will forgive me. She's a gem.

Sarah - I think you're the 22nd. See you there.

Larri -- I think Maria's series is right up your alley. Enjoy.

I've got both trees up but only one decorated. Hopefully this weekend...

Thank you so much for the mention! I've been out of internet range most of Friday and couldn't respond.

I'm beginning to think I have superpowers because people have sent me their prize, secret recipes and craft instructions.

I'd work for the government, but I don't want to use my powers for evil.

Thanks for reminding me about Maria's blog.

My Christmas purchases are done. My little tree sits on my table and the cards may eventually end up on the wall.

Love the groaner.

Oh, another groaner that I loved - will be passing that on to the family, whether they want it or not :-)

I'm scrambling trying to get ready for Christmas. I always direct a Christmas play at the local art center and that keeps me really busy leading into December. This weekend is our last one for the performances, so now I can focus on finishing preparations for Christmas.

Your groaner today was a baaaaadddd one. LOL

Love the groaner. *grin* As for Christmas, we put the tree up last week, the kitten has torn it down more than once. I give up. I'll fix it on the 24th. We haven't done any shopping yet. It's kind of a tradition that Kurt and I rush around on the 23rd trying to do it all at once. Then we end up taking the kids on Boxing Day to pick up what we missed. They love it. I think...

Maria - Don't get all smug. It's Tank and Iko we trust. If you turned to the dark side, we know they'd eat all the evidence before it could be used for evil.

LD Masterson said...

Dru - I envy you on the whole shopping thing. I always plan to do it early but never seem to get there. Glad you liked the groaner.

LD Masterson said...

Sarah - Ah, a disciple. Make your whole family groan.

LD Masterson said...

Maryann - I think that is so cool. I love going to local theater productions. I can't think of a better reason to delay Christmas preparations.

LD Masterson said...

Renen - That's not a Christmas tree, that's a scratching post. *grin*

Ooh, christmas recipes are always good. We've got a book of 24 Christmas stories that's probably one of my favorite traditions.
