At Least Books Don't Go Dark

HAPPY HUMP DAY

You know why books are better than movies or TV?  Because in a book, when you finally get to the big battle you've been waiting for all the way through the story, the pages will not get dark and leave you wondering who got killed and who didn't.

Yes, I'm complaining about this week's Game of Thrones.

I could understand if GOT was filmed for release in theaters before coming to TV. Theaters are designed to handle low light images on screen. That's why it's dark in there. But GOT was filmed for television. That thing people watch in their homes...where light may seep in from other rooms or through windows not covered with blackout curtains.

It was really frustrating having to go online the next day to find out for certain who got killed.

Are you a Game of Thrones fan? What did you think of the latest episode?

I've got all visual funnies for you today. From the "you only had one job" department...

Oops. A little off center there.

Note the claim on the sign.

What do you think? Alcohol or someone saw a spider on the road?

RIP, little buddy.

This last one is my favorite.

 Did they really not notice?

You may have noticed I'm trying not to do rely on puppies and kittens for all my "aw" pictures. There's just so many other beautiful faces out there.

What do you think of this one?

Wouldn't you like to know what he's thinking?
Was that an "aw" for you?

That's all for today. Hope you found something here to get you over the mid-week hump and coasting to the weekend.

I also hope the next episode of Game of Thrones will be a bit brighter. (Not in tone, just visually. So we can see what's going on.)

See you next week.

Thought for Today:

I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.

(This was printed on a coffee mug given to me by my co-workers in my previous office. I have no idea why.)

I guess I'm one of only a few that hasn't been keeping up with GOT. Love the photos and especially love the Thought for Today. I agree with it 110 percent! Have a great rest of the week.

There are a couple lines painted like that one in our area! The dead catfish tops it though.

I like the gorilla--I can identify better with this guy.

I haven't seen any Game of Thrones and have no real interest in it. I do get annoyed with films that are too dark. My wife and I watched something like that just the other day and now I can't remember what it was. Maybe if it had been filmed brighter I would have remembered.

I've never seen Game of Thrones, but I sure do know a lot of people who are head-over-heels enthralled with it. Oh well. I could always read the book...

Those "Only One Job" pics are hilarious, aren't they? I have a whole bunch of them on my computer, but I've never posted any. A friend sent them to me, thinking I might use them on my blog, but I wasn't sure how to attribute them or if I could get in trouble for copyright infringement, or anything. Now that you've tested the waters, maybe I'll take the plunge one of these days. :)

And YES, I DID go awwww over your last picture. That little fella is adorable. AND he likes flowers!

Mason - LOL, according to the comments left after yours, no one is watching GOT. I got drawn in a few seasons ago. I blame the grandkids. And why should we have to grow up, right?

Diane - Any idea how your road lines got painted that way?

Lee - Ah, not everyone relates to little balls of fur that purr. My husband and I get very frustrated with films/TV shows that are too dark. We sit there asking each other,"Can you see?" "Who was that?" "What just happened?"

Susan F.S. - There are only a few episodes of GOT left. I want to see how it all turns out but I can't say I'll be pining for it after it's gone. I do use pics I've received in emails, that I can't attribute. Maybe I shouldn't but I haven't run into a problem. Yet. (And thank you for saying Awww. I thought he deserved one.)

I like the offset logo.
Game of Thrones was dark for everyone streaming - they should have thought of that though!

Wow, that's a HUGE error to not consider lighting. Doh.
I'm glad to not be addicted to that or any show. Also glad I'm not the only non-GOT'er. I see I'm in good company.
Cheers.

LOL - I've always said growing up is over-rated! :)
Love the pics - and that baby gorilla is adorable!
Haven't watched GOT - too bloody and gory for me I'm afraid

Alex - It would have been nice to actually see some of the cool special effects I'm sure were there. I just wanted to see who was killing who.

Robyn - Before I started watching GOT, several seasons after it began, I was convinced I was the only person left in the free world that wasn't hooked on this thing. Now I discover that most of my own blog-buddies are GOT free. Who knew?

LD Masterson said...

Jemi - Absolutely overrated. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that little guy with a flower was worth an "aw".

We had all the lights turned off and the show was still too dark. I read online that that the filmers were defending themselves and saying it was our own fault and the fault of our TVs that it was too dark. It did add to the tension because I couldn't see who was getting killed.
Cute picture.

Susan G/K - I read something, too, that someone on the production team actually accused people of not knowing how to properly adjust their TVs. So they were right and everyone else was wrong? I don't think so.

The little ape looks like he's wondering if the flower tastes good.
I have not watched (or read) Game of Thrones. Have no desire. And I even saw one episode because I was in a hotel room with my friend who is hooked on the series. Just didn't see why it's all that special, but then I guess I'm just not the intended audience. :D

LD Masterson said...

Stacy - It's normally not my kind of thing but I got hooked on a couple characters, who have not been killed off yet, so I'll be with it till the end.

I've never watched Game of Thrones. Judging by what fans say, it doesn't sound like my kind of show. Too much skin and blood.

But I finally got to see Endgame and I'm still reeling with emotion.

LD Masterson said...

Maria - I haven't seen Endgame yet but I'm looking forward to it.

I love Game of Thrones and enjoyed the episode in question. It helps if you sit in a darkened room with no external light pollution and you're completely alone. I can insist on these small things :)

LD Masterson said...

Mike - Well, since I don't have a TV room I can completely darken, I was glad I wasn't alone. I needed someone to ask, "Wait. What just happened? Who got killed?" Lol.
