More About Flights of Fiction

Following the cover reveal on Monday, a few people have asked me how Flights of Fiction came about, and since there's nothing I'd rather talk about right now...well, except for my exceptional grandchildren but I try to maintain some control in that area, which isn't easy they're all bright, talented, beautiful...oh, right - Flights of Fiction. (Sorry.)

Flights of Fiction is a collection of stories set in Southwest Ohio, written by Southwest Ohio authors. More specifically, by members of the Western Ohio Writers' Association. We're a pretty eclectic bunch and this anthology certainly reflects that. The stories include fantasy, suspense, horror, romance, and mystery. Mine's a mystery. The cover was also designed by one of our members.

The title? That's in honor of Dayton, Ohio, the birthplace of aviation. Yeah, I know, the first flight took place down in North Carolina, but Orville and Wilbur Wright designed and build that first airplane in their bicycle shop right here in Dayton.

On Monday, I'll have the links up and more information on our release and our local launch party.

In the meantime, do you have any plans for this weekend? Hope it's a great one.

Will you be attending the launch party?

I'd go, but I hear you guys are still cold up there. :)

Enjoy your day in the literary sun.

My weekend plans are the usual: hang out with my brother, play skyrim, and watch another episode of Game of Thrones. It's my 'big' Saturday night out. Such an exciting life I lead.

Mood - Hmmm. That is lucky.

Maria - It's not till May 3. It'll be plenty warm enough.

Linda G. - There's a very cool story in the book that takes place in the National Air Force Museum (also located here).

Isis - Gymboree - Fun!

Michael - I wish you a return of your WiFi and a stormless walk on the beach.

Alex - Well, the next time you're in Dayton, call me.

Susan - Hmmm. No one ever says that about the grandkids. *grin*

mshatch - Hey, exciting isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I bet you are excited!

I intend to wash my car. That yucky green pollen is everywhere right now, including on my car despite the fact we have a garage.

Sounds like a great collection. Love the sign too.

LD Masterson said...

Gregg - Good question. I'd like one, too.

Robin - LOL, I was going for just that mixture - whacko and true.

Jemi - Thanks on both.

Carol - Hope yours is too.

Diane - My car could use a good washing but it's suppose to rain. Maybe I should let Mother Nature wash it for me.

Clarissa - Thanks on both.

I'll be spending some time tomorrow at a table at a local artisan show, selling copies of the anthologies we've published through our local Senior Center. We feature local writers, artists and photographers. Anthologies are such a great way to share diverse writings of local groups.

Kimberly - Hey, my son lived in Mason for a couple years. Nice city.

Julie - Thanks and you, too.

DL - Yup. :)

Lexa - Thanks, and thanks for Following my blog.

Mason - Thanks, and to you as well.

Patricia - That's great. I hope it goes well tomorrow.

I think being able to have a clear conscience is priceless, if my mind has to be fuzzy to get it, so be it. Congratulations with having your short story published. It is really an amazing accomplishment. I think that it is amazing that you guys pay tribute to where you are actually from.

I like the cover, and good luck with the launch. Enjoy!

Ref: A clear conscience is often the result of a fuzzy memory. I swear by it. And no, I don't remember the sixties : )

Mark Means said...

I grew up just across the river from Cincinnati, in Northern Kentucky, so Dayton is close to my old stomping grounds :)

LD Masterson said...

Stephen - Hi! I'd lost you. Just Followed your new blog.

Murees - Well, it was actually a no brainer. This publisher wanted to do a book of stories connected to Southwest Ohio and asked if we'd be interested in contributing. The WOWA group grabbed the opportunity and ran with it.

Mike - What sixties? *grin*

Mark - My story is actually set in Cincinnati so that's even closer.

Jan - Thanks. One of our authors designed the cover.

Eve - I hope you will and that you'll enjoy it.
