Hump Day - Short and Sweet

Happy Hump Day

I've noticed my hump day posts have been running a little long lately and since most of us have limited time for blog reading, I'm changing to a shorter format for a while. Please let me know what you think.

I love dogs. We've always had dogs as part of our family. I believe dogs are incredibly loving and faithful and intelligent. But sometimes...just on occasion, I question their honesty.

You know what I mean?

How about a little old lady joke? (My favorites.)

Sylvia and Wanda, two very old friends, meet up in heaven. They're startled to see each other.

"Wanda! What are you doing here? I didn't know you'd passed."

"Oh, it's just been a couple days. I didn't know you were here either. How did you die?"

"I froze to death."

"Oh, my dear, that sounds terrible."

"It wasn't so bad. After I stopped shaking, I began to feel all warm and sleepy and just drifted away. What about you?"

"Heart attack. My own fault really. I thought my husband was cheating on me so I came home early to catch him in the act."

"And did you?"

"No. He was sitting there alone watching TV. But I was sure there was a woman there somewhere. I started searching all over the house. I ran up to the attic and down to the basement. I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept racing around until I was exhausted and I just keeled over with a massive heart attack and died."

"Too bad you didn't look in the freezer, dear. We'd both still be alive."

Be honest. Did you see that one coming?

Time for your "aw".

I've done a lot of "aw" pictures with puppies and kittens and babies. Even otters.
How about a pair of loving fawns?

Did you say it?

Okay, that's it. Are we there? Over the mid-week hump?

Excellent!

Does the shorter post format work for you?

Have a great day, week, and weekend.

See you next Wednesday.

Thought for Today:

I like them long or short...it's all good. I could spend a whole day on funnies.

No, I didn't see that coming! LOL. Yes, I said aw. And the thought for the day is so true!

I like the exploding pillow.
That was a funny joke and no, I didn't see it coming.
And now I want a snow blower!

Loved the joke, and I did not see the end coming. The "aw" picture did the job. So nice.

The short and sweet version is nice, but I always enjoyed the various memes you'd post. Maybe find a middle ground between the longer posts and the shorter version?

The thought for the day hit home. I'm supposed to be packing for my vacation and what am I doing? Visiting blogs. LOL

I like your posts, long or short. That snow blower battle is definitely something our family would do.

Sherry Ellis said...

I love the expression on the dog's face after the pillow exploded. I like how its ears are back, in total submission. ;0)

You must watch out for those spontaneously exploding pillows. And I have to admit I didn't see the end of that joke coming. It made me laugh, though. Yes, I awwed over the baby deer. So adorable!

Stacy McKitrick said...

Long or short, doesn't matter. As long as I laugh. And I did--at the exploding pillow. :)

Donna K. Weaver said...

Oh, man. That last picture is the story of my life. Thanks for the smiles

Elizabeth - That's my problem. I spend too much time on funnies and don't get anything else done. I don't want to lead people astray.

Alex - Oh Lord, I hate to think of the fun you'd have with that snow blower.

Maryann - I'm going to play with it a bit and see what goes best. Now go pack!

Susan G/K - Oh, so would ours. It would take our snowball fights to a whole new level.

Sherry - I think he was going for innocence but I don't think he pulled it off.

Cherie - I had a dog once who tried to convince me the wallpaper had fallen off the lower part of the wall all by itself. And I love that no one saw the joke punchline coming.

Stacy - How could you not?

Donna - My pleasure, as always.

Loved all these funny things, especially the last pic. In an effort to avoid my writing, entire ovens can be cleaned or toilets scrubbed. Yes, that's avoidance to the nth power!

Whether they're long or short, I love every one of your posts. <3

I just used "Symphony" to cross post the last pic & your blog addy to my FB and Twitter accounts - and they showed up in both places!! First time I ever did that! Pardon me while I do a little happy dance. Squeee!

Love everything here, including the shorter format!

I said aw!

Exploding pillows? I'm sure he said the garbage exploded, too.

Shorter is definitely better in April, but I'm all for the funny lengths you go to to keep the rest of us giggling :)

Kaye George said...

No, I did NOT see that coming--loved it! I don't mind the longer ones, but the shorter ones do take less time and that's appreciated. Besides, you'll have more material if you don't put so much in each post.

Hi. L.D.

Did the AWE....

LOVE the joke and the exploding pillow is TOOOO funny.

For me, I love your post anyway, but I must admit I prefer them longer... I LOVE all the fun stories and pics you post and keep me laughing through the whole post.

Thanks for all the laughs!

Any format--this just makes my day!

That last one is so true. I get so much cleaning done when I don't want to work on other things.

The fawn photo is heartwarming.
Shorter posts are better generally.

Yours are always fun regardless of length.

Heather R. Holden said...

LOL, that dog at the start of this post cracks me up...

Also, I love the shorter format. I try to keep my own posts on the short side, too, when I can, since time feels so limited nowadays!

Your Thought for the Day is my motto in life - though teaching sometimes got in the way of it :)

LD Masterson said...

Lexa - Scrubbing toilets. Now that's avoidance. And Symphony? Ack. Something else I have to learn about.

Carol - Thank you.

Diane - I knew you would.

Mark - That's my job.

Kaye - That can be a plus. Except on those weeks when I have more funny stuff than I know what to do with.

Michael - You're welcome. And thanks for the feedback.

Barb - Hey, that's what I'm here for.

Robyn - It's funny that women clean to avoid working. What do you do to avoid cleaning?

Heather - The most common complaint I read about blogging is the time it takes.

Mike - I had a couple of teachers who seemed to carry that motto into the classroom.

Maria Zannini said...

um...I don't think those fawns are doing what you think they're doing. LOL.

re: dog
Yup. I've seen that face at my house more than once.

Robin said...

Enjoy it long or short, though short is probably good during the A to Z.

No, I didn't see it coming. Very funny.

And those fawns. Might be my favorite Aw yet.

Laurel Garver said...

Thanks for the laughs! Definitely needed it today.

alexia said...

That's why I'm not a dog person, LOL. As for the joke, yeah, I did see that one coming... probably just because I knew there had to be some twist ending :)

Yay, it's Thursday now! Almost the weekend.

Love the dog image at the top!

cleemckenzie said...

Now I am rolling on the floor laughing. Seriously. No, I did not see that coming and I'm sending to one of my best friends with a note about checking the freezer. She'll love it.

kjmckendry said...

I have to admit I usually like the shorter posts, but I will read a longer post if it really catches my attention.

I love the joke, I really didn't see that coming!

Julie Flanders said...

LOL no I didn't see that coming and it even took me a second to get it. Hilarious.
The fawns are too precious for words.

LD Masterson said...

Maria - Uh uh. That's an innocent sibling hug. (Isn't it?)

Robin - Yeah, I wish I had thought of that at the beginning of April.

Laurel - I'm glad I could provide them.

alexia - And now it's Friday. You're almost there!

Stephen - The expression is priceless.

cleemckenzie - Great. Always pass along a good laugh.

Kathryn - I really like shorter posts myself but sometimes I get to telling jokes and get carried away.

Julie - Hah. The delayed-reaction laugh. Best kind.

E. M. Prokop said...

This was very entertaining! Love it, but I like the longer posts too. It's all good. And I did say 'awwww..', out loud!

Vanessa Morgan said...

Haha, I'm sure that's exactly what the dog is trying to communicate.

Arlee Bird said...

Those old lady jokes are my favorites. This one was laugh out loud outstanding.

Eva - All "awwww"s should be said out loud. They feel better that way.

Vanessa - Without a doubt.

Lee - I'm glad you liked it. They're my favorites, too.

The old lady joke was also my favorite! What a great punchline!
