I'm afraid this is another non-humpday post. I just wanted to thank everyone for your prayers and good wishes for my daughter-in-law Kim. After three weeks of her not being able to keep anything down, Kim's doctors' finally found the cause of her illness and were able to start her on an effective medication. Within 24 hours she was able to drink water, the next day she was on full liquids, and by the third day she was tolerating soft foods and able to go home.
I know it was the prayers of so many people asking God to guide Kim's doctors' to the right diagnosis that made all the difference. Thank you so much.
But I'm taking one more week off my regular blog schedule to focus on family. We've got so much important stuff going on.
Last Friday, my granddaughter Gretchen graduated from high school
and grandson Drake graduated on Saturday.

(I was so grateful their graduations didn't fall on the same day.)
This coming weekend has another couple of biggies.
On Saturday, Gretchen's lacrosse team is playing for the
State Championship!

Go Braves!
And Sunday is the day I've been dreading for almost a year.

I'm very proud and a little terrified
but mostly it's going to be so hard to see him go.
So if I've managed to stop bawling by next Wednesday,
I'll be back with your hump day funnies.
And I'll get back to visiting everyone's blogs again.
Oh, in case you're wondering why no tears for Gretchen leaving...
it's not time yet.
She won't leave for college until August.
Thanks again for all your support for Kim.
See you next week.

Hi LD - lots of good news ... and some sadness with Drake's departing - but you all will be so proud of him ... take care and have a peaceful and fun week ahead ... cheers Hilary
So glad to hear Kim's home and recovering! What a horrible thing to go through. Also, not surprised at all that you need to take a break from blogging. Family should always come first!
That's wonderful to hear they finally figured out what was wrong and Kim is okay now.
Congrats to Gretchen and Drake. He's a big boy. He will fit in well in the Marines. Maybe he'll be stationed here in NC at Camp Lejune.
Ahhh, Drake will be fine. Be glad you're living in the age where he can contact home more easily than I could when I went away to boot camp back in 1976 (although, mine was Army, not Marines). All I had was snail mail. Anyway, here's a cyber hug for you (((hug))). And tell Kim I'm super glad she's feeling better!
Unfortunately, the Marines are really strick about boot camp. No calls, texts, emails, or online anything. He gets one hour a week for mandatory letter writing and that's it. I know my boy...I'm not holding my breath for any letters. The hardest part will be not knowing what he's doing and not having him walk through the door whenever.
I'm so glad about Kim. Talk about scary.
As for Drake...you knew he had to go sometime. Time to let the little bird fly and hope he doesn't stumble too often.
It reminds me how scared my parents (and Greg's parents) were when we got married and drove away on our honeymoon. We had one picture taken right before we left. We thought we were cool and so grown up. But when I look at that picture now, I can see why our parents were so scared. We looked like little kids. :)
You made it. I made it. I'm sure Drake will too.
I'd be better with him flying if he wasn't flying with the Marines. They tend to fly in scary places. And, of course, I'm just flat out going to miss him like crazy.
So glad Kim is better! Enjoy your week off :)
Thanks, Hiliary.
It was tough on Kim but she's all recovered and happy to have she'd 20 pounds in the process.
Thanks. She had a hard three weeks. As for my big boy, I'd sure rather he be in NC than the Middle East somewhere.
Thanks, Marcy.
I've been seeing some of your updates on Facebook, but truthfully, I've been a little crazy myself with end of the school year stuff. What lovely pictures of both graduates! You must be so proud.
so glad for your happy news and hoping for a healthy recovery
and congrats to your grads! my oldest son graduated and will be headed to college in the fall - much waterworks expected...
my parents couldn't come up because my nephew got married the same weekend, far away. oh well, they're coming to visit soon - so it all works out!
happy summer!

Your family looks lovely, Linda. I'm glad Kim's on the mend and I understand your pride in and fear for Drake. Good luck in the coming week
Glad to hear all the good reports from your world. Enjoy the family and enjoy your summer. I can understand some reluctance in seeing Drake go, but he is making a good move for himself and the country. Good for him!

Tossing It Out
So happy to hear your daughter in law is on the road to recovery... How exciting to see two of your grandkids graduate.
I felt a PANG when I read about your grandson going to the Marine Corps Camp on Parris Island. My second novel heavily features the Corp and the area around it. The MC's dad is a Marine Corp Captain and is sequestered their to train a new regiment of recruits... SO I had to heavily research the Corps and Parris Island.
ALL the best to him on his new life's journey. May he stay forever safe.
I hope everything's going well with you. :-)
