Furniture Woes, PK Hrezo's New Cover, and the 2014 Write Club is Coming!!

Happy Hump Day

Here we go with some hump day funnies to get you through the week or just through the day, whenever you stop by.

My pictures today are all on the same theme: pets and people furniture.
You know, sometimes they don't always go together.

There are cracks in the seats to slip through...

and in the backs as well.

Sometimes it's a size issue.

And sometimes...um...I'm not sure how to explain this one.

Maybe we better move on to a joke.

I'm a little old lady, so I can tell these...

A little old lady was sitting on a park bench in The Villages, a Florida Adult community. A man walked over and sits down on the other end of the bench. After a few moments, the woman asked, 'Are you a stranger here?'

He replied, 'I lived here years ago.'

'So, where were you all these years?'

'In prison,' he said.

'Why did they put you in prison?'

He looked at her, and very quietly said, 'I killed my wife.'

'Oh!' said the woman. 'So you're single...?!'

Okay, let's break from the funnies for a minute for some great news.

First, we have the cover reveal for PK Hrezo's Butterman Travel sequel,
INDUCTION DAY

The year 2069 is coming to a close, and eighteen-year-old Bianca Butterman's pilot license is finally official. She's ready for the Induction Day she’s waited for since she was a kid—the one that will secure her name on the Butterman family tree of time travelers. But ever since the media discovered Bianca is pop superstar Tristan Helms’ latest new honey, everything Bianca does or says becomes a target of criticism. Having her professional credibility topping the gossip sites across social media is an open invitation for the government to step in and regulate Bianca’s Induction. Now she will have to ask herself if saving 1500 people from drowning is worth losing everything she’s ever worked for, including the Butterman family biz.

Great cover and it sounds like a terrific story. You can add it to your GoodReads shelf by clicking HERE.

Congratulations, PK.

Second news item:

IT'S BACK!

DL Hammons' fabulous Write Club for 2014 is now accepting submissions.

Haven't heard about the Write Club? I'll let DL explain...

"It’s a modest writing competition whose inspiration was derived from the movie FIGHT CLUB.  There are numerous versions of this concept around the internet, but nothing like we do it here.  This unique approach, combined with your participation, continues to set it apart from the other writing competitions and is responsible for its phenomenal growth.  Its essence embodies simple, good-natured competition, with lots and lots of fun sprinkled on top.
Over the course of eight weeks I’ll be holding twice-weekly bouts in which the winners will advance to the play-offs, which will ultimately lead to a single champion.  Bouts between who…or what…you ask.  Anonymous 500 word writing samples, submitted under a pen name by anyone who wishes to take part, that’s who.   The writing can be any genre, any style (even poetry) with the word count being the only restriction.  It’s a way to get your writing in front of a lot of readers, without having to suffer the agony of exposure.
And the winners are determined by WRiTE CLUB readers!"

Sound like fun? Of course it does. So hop over to the Write Club site for all the details and send in your submission.

Now, I know what you're thinking.  You're thinking I forgot your "aw".
Never!

I'm staying with my "pets in furniture" collection but this one qualified as an "aw".

The eyes did it for me.
How about you?

That's it for today. Hope you found a smile or a chuckle or even a good old belly laugh.
Did I get an "aw"?
Did you have a favorite?

Have a great day, week, weekend...oh heck, have a great everything.

See you next Wednesday.

Scientific Fact for Today:

The National Institutes of Health has just released the results of a $200 million research study completed under a grant to Johns Hopkins.

The new study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it.

PK's cover is awesome.

You got me to say aw out loud with your aw photo. Poor puppy. He looks as if he didn't know how he got in that situation.

I agree with everyone else. This has gotta be one of your best, from start to finish. LOVE all the pet pics in the furniture cracks. Our cats firmly believe WE are their furniture.

You were so right about the eyes on the "aw" dog. He was pleading for help. LOL

Thanks for the mid-week chuckle. I always enjoy this.

Loved everything, especially the Aw Moment and the scientific fact.

So cute! And of course, I have to go for the weimaraner trying to sit on the couch, because that's my very favorite breed of dog. :)

LD Masterson said...

Michael - Wow, that makes my day. Thanks.

Mason - It really is.

Alex - I'm not sure if the cat was relaxed or seriously annoyed.

Maria - You're an easy "aw". A sucker for puppies.

Susan F.S. - Yup, my dog thinks I'm her personal recliner.

Maryann - I know. I want to reach into that picture and pull him out.

Carol - That scientific fact rang pretty true to me.

Julie - Poor guy. It just wasn't working for him.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Congrats to PK. Thanks for the funnies. Silly pets.

The pictures are funny. I think it's all about miscalculations.
And yes, never mention women's weight, hahaha.

LD Masterson said...

Susan G/K - My pleasure.

Al - You're a wise man.

"So you're single"-- love it. I can imagine this is actually a true story considering some of the crazies in prison who end up with wives.

Those pics are priceless! And that joke. Ha!

Congrats to PK!

Those are the cutest and goofiest pictures ever! That Great Dane looks like a horse on that couch. PK's new cover is awesome, and I wish her much success with the book! Thanks for the old lady joke - it really made me smile. Actually, all your Wednesday posts make me smile and I appreciate every one. :-D

Love the last line of that joke . . . single. Funny. And the last science joke is pretty funny too!
Congrats to PK!

So many giggles to be had here, LD. Thank you. I liked the old lady. It's hard enough finding a single man when you're in your 40s/50s. I hope I won't be considering dating murderers if I live to be a single senior. LOL.

Thanks for sharing what you did at my blog. It's a condition I've had in my family too.

Hugs to you.

Great pictures as usual, Linda. Must admit I'm intrigued by the competition. The five hundred words, do they have to start a novel/story or can they come from anywhere within it?

Heather R. Holden said...

These pictures had me cracking up so much, especially the one where the dog was upside-down. Priceless!

Marcia said...

There are all these jokes about endless pet pictures, but there's never an end to how sweet and funny they can be. Thanks for sharing pictures and laughs.

LD Masterson said...

Lee - Heck, there are probably a few crazies are the senior home, too.

DL - I'm looking forward to it.

Emily - Glad you liked them.

Lexa - I love to give out smiles.

Tyrean - All the guys should pay attention to that scientific study.

Robyn - Well, maybe if he's cute.

Mike - I believe they can come fro anywhere but I don't think you get any set up time so it could get confusing. Definitely go over to DL's site and check it out. Even if you don't want to submit something, reading all the pieces submitted during the competition is a treat.

Heather - I'm still trying to figure out how he ended up like that.

Marcia - I know. I never tire of them.

Better to be stuck in the furniture than to eat it! :)

I will be laughing for hours. These are great, the photos and the jokes. Thanks for the write club reminder. :)

My dog ends up in some strange positions on the sofa, but I can't say she's ever gotten stuck in a cushion!

Oooh, love the little collie in the first one. :) Thanks for the smile today.

LD Masterson said...

Cate - No argument on that.

Rhonda - You're welcome.

Stephanie - No, I don't think any of mine have either.

Liz - I know. Too cute.
