Remembering my moms on Mother's Day...
Kathleen Hazel McLellen Masterson
My mom was, in many ways, a wounded bird. She suffered from terrible health problems all of her life. But she was one of the kindest, gentlest, most loving souls there could ever be. There was never a day when I wasn't secure in her love.
On her wedding day, age 15. She and my Dad were together almost 65 years.
She took great pleasure in anything that made any of us happy. I loved her laughter.
It's been five years since she left us. I miss her every day.

Few wives are lucky enough to get a mum-in-law like mine. Mama was a woman of great courage who survived the forced labor camps in Nazi Germany, years in refugee camps, and imigrating to this country with practically nothing but never lost her faith or her kindness.
She became a US citizen at the age of 80.
She loved to play cards and I loved it when she played with all the guys in the family and "cleaned their clocks".
This is our first Mother's Day without Mama. It's going to feel terribly empty.
I've been incredibly fortunate to have had these two beautiful ladies in my life.
Happy Mother's Day, Mom

Such lovely memories of two remarkable women. Your tributes brought tears to my eyes.
Hugs on Mother's Day to you. They were so lucky to have a daughter and daughter-in-law like you!

Your mom was 15 when she married? Holy moley. And I thought I started out too young. She was absolutely stunning though. Your dad chose wisely. :)
Happy Mother's Day, Linda! Hope you're feeling better.
How wonderful that you had two fantastic women in your life, Linda. It's sad that they are gone, but I know they are in your heart.
I'm one of the lucky ones too. I count Russ' Mom as a very dear friend. It's been a blessing in our lives that we both got along with our respective m-i-l's.

Thanks, Karin. Mother's Day hugs to you, too.
Mary - Yes, I consider myself very lucky to have had them.
Maria - She was 15 and Dad was 17. But as soon as he turned 18 he was off to war and they only saw each other once during the next three years. Near the end of her life she liked me to sing to her and one of her favorites was an oldie that began, "They tried to tell us we're too young..."
Liz - and your mom lives in some of my favorite memories.
Beautiful thoughts for two beautiful women - through and through. I consider myself fortunate to have known and loved them both.... and you too my friend! Enjoy your Mother's Day!
What a wonderful tribute to your moms!
TK - Thank you.
Janice - Happy Mother's Day to the sister Mom forgot to give me.
Lovely, lovely, lovely. This gets me all choked up...
Thank you, Liz. They were lovely ladies.
